Berlinale - tips and tricksFind out how to make the most of your Berlinale experience! Below are some tips and tricks to enjoy the film festival in all its glory and some insider tips to make your experience as smooth as it can be.
-
Make an itinerary and book things in advance
Berlinale is hectic and exciting, and it’s a good idea to plan ahead to make the most of your experience – make sure to book tickets for the films you want to see ahead of time, make reservations for your lunch break to be sure to catch a table - if you want to decide what to eat on the day, you can reserve a table at Manifesto and choose from one of our 20 restaurants when you get there.
-
Dress practically
The days are getting longer, and it’s tempting to take it as a sign of Spring having sprung. Unfortunately, February in Berlin is still winter and you can expect the temperatures to hover around the 0 degree mark! If you’ll be in and out of buildings during the day it’s a good idea to wear thin thermals as a base layer and don’t forget a warm coat! There are many sights and places worth a visit that are walking distance from Potsdamer Platz, so make sure to put on warm, comfortable shoes to be ready to explore all day.
-
Pack light
To make the most of your day, a compact bag with only essentials is the way to go! Don’t forget your passes, tickets and keep a powerbank on hand! Of course, you can also take advantage of all the charging stations at Manifesto Market while you enjoy a meal.
-
Plan plenty of time
Given how busy the Berlinale can get, it’s a good idea to plan on long queues and waiting times. Dress warmly and prepare for a wait, it’ll all be worth it when you get to see this year’s best films! Tickets will be published 3 days before a screening at 10 AM, so make sure to load up the Berlinale website on time!
-
Get to know the area
If you’re coming to Berlin specifically for the festival, it’s good to bear in mind that the city is very vast. To reduce travelling time between locations, get to know the key areas on the map and make sure your accommodation isn’t too far away. Luckily, Potsdamer Platz has all the amenities you need to make your stay smooth and fun, from food to shopping, coffee and drinks, it has everything in one place!
Now that you’re all ready and prepared, the only thing left to do is to enjoy the vibrant culture, hope to spot a few celebrities and enjoy! And if you get hungry on your adventures, Manifesto market has you covered, from Italian to Turkish, Africa to Asia and beyond, there’s food and drinks for every taste.
